1. Warm air from the vents

Low refrigerant, a failing compressor or a dirty coil can all stop your system from cooling properly.

2. Strange noises

Grinding, squealing or rattling usually means a worn motor bearing, a loose part or a fan problem.

3. Rising energy bills

An AC that works harder to reach the same temperature uses more power. A sudden jump in your bill is a red flag.

4. Water or ice around the unit

Leaks and frozen coils point to drainage issues or low refrigerant.

5. Short cycling
