Most people only think about their heating and cooling when it stops working. Understanding the basics helps you spot problems early and make smarter decisions.
Heating
A furnace, boiler or heat pump generates or moves heat, which is distributed through ducts, radiators or floor systems.
Cooling
Your AC or heat pump absorbs heat from indoor air and releases it outside, using refrigerant that cycles between the indoor and outdoor units.
Ventilation and air quality
Ducts, filters and vents keep air moving and clean. If they’re dirty or leaky, the whole system loses efficiency.
